Hi everyone! I just finished transferring Spikey and her pups to the large acquarium. You should see the pups running around checking out every corner. They all have their eyes open now and are doing great. Spikey doesn't seem too concerned about the change she is sitting in her dish eating! I ditched the plexi-glass lid idea after I got a few posts saying that they would not have enough ventilation. So I made it out of wood and wire mesh. I am still using corncob bedding and toilet paper for bedding. When would it be safe to introduce aspen shavings again? It could have been a coincidence but that was when the pups got sick and I put the antibiotics in Spikey's water. I wish I could get bedding around here! The aspen comes in tiny $5 bags that are only good for about a week, I have not seen carefresh in any local stores (Ont, Canada). I'm not aware of any Canadian stores that sell or ship carefresh or even aspen in bulk. If I buy American the exchange doesn't make it worth while. I was using balsam wood but I ran out. The male Clifford is using aspen shavings. Another question I had is when are the pups old enough to run a wheel with an adult gerbil in the acquarium? I don't want them to be injured. Also what is the best wheel to get? I had a plastic safari wheel but they chewed it up, I know a wire wheel isn't safe because there tails can get caught, but what is left? It has to be able to attach to the side of the acquarium. Thanks Cindi
