I am very sorry--it sounds like it was very difficult to watch. I haven't
been through the death of a gerbil yet (only humans, dogs and cats), but it
could have been a stroke or I wonder if the thrashing around could have been
residual electrical activity discharging in the muscles as sometimes happens
before and even after death occurs. Anyway, I am sorry but glad she is not
suffering (she probably wasn't suffering even lying there, my guess. Shock
and endorphins are wonderful things our bodies do to keep us from having
more pain than we can handle).
