Hi Rebecca!

I didn't quote the horrible story. It's enough to read it once. It made
me so angry.

> Anyway, animals are property in this country. In order for them to be
> valued, they must be assigned a monetary value. The higher, the better.

This is the case in Germany, too. The situation is:
If a mongrel is hit by a car the driver will pay nothing (The dog owner
be lucky if he doesn't have to pay for the damage it did to the car).
But if a pure bred dog is hit by a car the owner will get a lot of money
so he can replace it.
Isn't that just ridiculous???? An animal is *not* a thing which can be
replaced.
Again I repeat that I hate the idea to have any money value added to an
animal. The dogs in the shelter go to new homes for a donation which
includes shots etc. The dog itself costs *nothing* It's sometimes hard
to explain to people interested in adoption why the same price is asked
for a 6 year old mongrel as for a 6 months old pure bred AC White
Shepherd. But infact there is basically no difference between the two.

Yes, infact your message made me want to vent about all the incredible
things happening (or *not* happening) to people who abuse and even
murder children but it's really entirely off topic so I'll go to bed now
and try to forget about it all.

Good night.
Eva
