I don't know if cow's milk affects gerbil pups as it does canine pups, but
it can lead to diarrhea in canine pups. That would obviously aggravate any
dehydration. Goat's milk is recommended if supplemental feedings are
required by *weaned* canine pups. (?reason smaller protein molecules? Not
sure.) Maybe the experts will settle the cow vs. goat milk question. If
goat milk is the winner, know that it can be found canned which would enable
long term availability for late night emergencies (assuming one doesn't want
to substitute goat milk for cow's milk in one's own diet!). After getting
through the night (or snow-in), one could get a more suitable supplement.
