Will MDF harm my gerbils?

Hello all.
I have a glass tank made my Custom Aquaria, with glass platforms and ladders specific 
for rodents.  I smashed one of the platforms.  Since the company who made the tank no 
longer trades, my dad made me a new one from MDF.  Would this poison my gerbs if they 
chewed it?
BTW I'm going to a glazier soon to get a new one made up.
