I have noticed that my male gerbils (Sandy and Rommel) get on very well and work as a
team one at each end when they chew toilet rolls.
But my 2 females (Lucy and Charlotte) tend to bicker a little bit, always squeaking at
eachother, and fight for the same side when they chew toilet rolls!
Also Lucy and Charlotte tend to fix their eyes on something and then sway from left to
right, is there a reason for this? (they are white with pink eyes if this helps)

They may be OK, but many people have trouble with groups of females.
Splitting them into two groups of two is likely to reduce the chance of
major violence. Be warned that six months is one of the flash points as
they try and finally sort out their relative adult status.
