I can say almost completely assuredly that the diabetes will unfortunately
shorten his life.  Especially in light of the lack of insulin treatment.  I
wonder if the second vet will agree with the first vet on that...

It seems to me that insulin being calibrated by the manufacturer (at least
in the US and Canada) to 100 units per mL (the standard), it would be
possible to further dilute it to say 10 units per mL to allow for tiny
dosages.  Perhaps Kelly (I'm not using her last name ever again) RPh can
mull that over.

Diabetes' having an effect on the sugar in the blood affects all body organs
to some degree.  The blood can become quite viscous (thick) with the
elevated sugar levels and therefore not circulate as well (not getting to
all the "parts").  At the same time, the body's cells are starving for the
sugar because the insulin is the mechanism for getting the huge glucose
molecule across the cell membranes.  I hope there is a way to get the
insulin to a dilution that could work.
