There is a laxative for animals that is fine for gerbs your vet can give
you. You might try more sunflower seeds; fattening as they are, they might

Hi list-
I have a gerbil who is currently being treated for an upper
respiratory
infection. She's taking the prescription antibiotic Ditrim. As a side
effect of the medication, she has become very constipated and can't seem to
poop. I contacted my vet and 2 others and no small animal specialists are
currently available. Has anyone encountered this before, or does anyone
know of any possible remedies? She looks very uncomfortable, but her
respiratory symptoms are improving with treatment. Any possible ideas or
suggestions are greatly appreciated 'til I can get her to the small animal
vet in the morning.
