>However, his facial features are different than those
>of the other pups
I'm thinking that maybe he was the first pup born and that the mother was in
labor for a while. That would mean that he was in the birth canal long
enough for the same of the mother's body to shape the pups head. This
happens to humans, but the baby's head will go back to normal after a couple
days. This is because of the fontanels. They are the soft spots where the
skull is not closed to allow the skull and brain to grow. I don't know if
gerbils have fontanels so I can't tell you if his head will go back to
normal. and like I said this is what I think is wrong. I would normally
post this to you privaltely, but I need the experts oppinion on this one.
Any research done on prenatal gerbils? Any neonatology being done?
>Third question: I've looked at the websites that show the difference
>between male and female gerbils
You can see the nipples on the females when they are young and at about 4
weeks you can look under their tail and tell if they are male or female. At
nine weeks old the female pups can produce off spring. Bill had a 7 week
female mate and later have pups. You should separate the pups from their
mother when they are 6 weeks old and put the males in one tank and the
females in another. Good Luck.
