If you have two males with a female and they are all less than 10 weeks
old, you can leave them together until she has a litter. If not you can
take him back before his tankmates  forget him. You can also buy a baby
male gerbil for
a companion.  After the pups are 4 weeks, you can put a daughter with
mom into a new tank. The two males can remain in the original tank. The
mother will have one more litter though. Some have been able to have
breeding setups with 2 males and a female with no problems. Mine
eventually fought because of dominance issues between the males or
disputes over mating rights. See journal page 9 and 10--
