Dude, pull some of those banners. You have 5 banners on that opening page,
plus the pop up that Angelfire gives. When I go to the Gerbil page, you
have several more. This is bad for the following reasons:
1. It's tacky. It makes your website look cheap.
2. It's irritating. Several of those things are set to pulse or flash,
plus I don't dig on banners. Most folks dislike them.
3. 5 is too many. One might be OK, but 5 looks like you're trying to
scam people.
4. It will hurt your CGS efforts. I (and I am not the only one) wouldn't
give personal information to a site that has that many banners, since it
smacks of selling said information to those companies. It makes the CGS
look like a scam or somesuch.
5. None of them are related to gerbils, they're all get-rich-quick
schemes. Ugh. If you must have a banner, contact pets.com or one of the
other online petstores, and see if they'll sponsor your site.
