Hi Everyone,
We have noticed among our breeding Gerbils that sometimes a pair may produce
a very small number of pups and then all of a sudden produce a bumper crop.
This happened during the past week when one pair that had only had 1-2 birth
pups produced 7 - yes, seven.
The female did not have them all at once, but over a three day period.
After the first birth there were four and three more appeared later on.
Elizabeth keeps a close eye on the births etc and she noticed this staggered
birth.
Has anyone else seen a pair not produce many pups and then suddenly produce
more? Also how many others have had birth periods stretching over three
days?
