[Unable to display image]Dear fellow Gerbil lovers,
My gerbils love empty and clean pickle, or jam jars, or any glass jer. they
have a huge one downstairs of their 3 level cage, that they sleep in; and
next to their food bowl, and they take their food and run into it to eat.
when they pee, they freeze for about 5 seconds while they do it, and when
they are finished, they kinda throw back bedding with their fiont paws to
cover it, like how a dog does to cover a buried bone.
Although their cage is quite big, a great fun for a gerbil is that we put
them in an empty bath tub with about 1 tsp of food, and the plug in, and they
can't get out cos the sides are too steep and curved so they slide back down
if they try to jump up. it's huge and they run up and down it. an old bathtub
would be great as a huge home for hundreds of gerbils. that's what i'm gonna
do with our old one when we get a new bathtub fitted.
When they were young, they'd run in and out of cardboard tubes, but now they
are older, they just chew on them.
I am soon gonna breed gerbils, particularly rare breds, can you all name your
favourite brred so i know what is most popular. i do love the lilac grey ones
myself. my poor Fuzzy who died last year was one, and she was so perfect, we
entered her in a show and won first place, and a years supply of gerbil food
and a huge cage with lots of toys. my mum likes dove grey gerbils, and 'her'
Snowy was one. she died at the vets though, in mid-december.
Gerbils also love to watch TV! Put their cage about 1 metre or 1 1'2 yards
away from the TV. they like animal programs, gardening, and young kids tv
programs, like teletubbies, and travel programs. i think they'd like stuff
about deserts on the discovery channel, they are from the desert, they must
be able to relate to it!

Enough of my madness, i'm off to go eat more gerbil food.
