Whoa! Just had the worst experience. When I came home tonight the first
thing I saw was Bulldog(I know, it's a weird name for a female), one of my
gerbils, she was running around on the floor. I still don't know how she got
out. She lives in a cage, a 55 litre aquarium, and a transparent plastic
tank. All connected with habitrail pipes. Now they are only allowed to be in
the cage, since they apparently can get out somewhere. Anyway, when I saw
her I had no idea what to do. First I tried to bribe her with treats, but
she wouldn't come. Finally she ran under the stove. I thought I had lost her
forever, but when I opened a drawer under the stove, there she was, trapped.
She had jumped into it and was unable to get out. It felt really good when I
put her back in her cage with her female friend.

Ever since I put her back in the cage, she has been desperately trying to
get out again; chewing at bars, digging in corners, which is very unusual
for her.
I will definately try to find out where she got out, and I hope I won't have
to deal with things like this in the future, it sure was an experience full
of adrenaline.
