This happenned with our pair - they appeared to be mating, and the
male was checking himself, but they weren't quite getting it right
:-) In our case the female also had a health problem triggered by
the mixed wood shavings they had in the cage. Once the problem was
sorted out and the antibiotics finished, they then started mating
properly (both of them checking themselves after mounting) and we
finally got pups when she was 6 months old (and every 31 days
since - LOL)

Subject: Mating Question !
...This will sound stupid ..
Does female have to raise her tail when they are mating , or
raising her back (with tail down) would be enough ?
They have been mating four times (every two weeks, all night long)
since we have them , still no pups , and we noticed that male
maybe could not penetrate because of Female's tail , or we might
be wrong ... The last time he mounted her several times , she
shoved no resistance , but she never examined herself ... Do they
know how to do it , is it possible that one of them is not fertile
?
... O.K. we have time (but you all know how does it feel to wait
for pups) !!!
