When 2 spotted gerbils are bred together (Spsp x Spsp) 25% of the pups would
be SPSP, however that is a lethal gene combination so those are reabsorbed in
the womb and never born. This just means that theoretically litters from a
pied to pied breeding will always produce 25% less pups but due to odds this
is not always true, I had a nutmeg pied to a nutmeg pied that consistently
gave litters of 7 or 8 which should mean that actually they should have had
11 or 12, of course there is probably someone that did the same thing and is
only getting litters of 4.
