Virginia (black pied) & Emmett (black with white bracelets) originally had
7 babies on 2/22, but 1 died and one is missing presumed dead, so that
makes 5 live and 2 dead shortly after birth.
I think it is my fault, because V. had the babies in the loft of the Safari
cage, and I moved it down lower so nobody could fall out, and then I moved
it out completely so there would be more room. V. got extremely upset, and
kept going and standing on the piece of wood she'd been using as a ladder
and jumping at the now gone loft with a baby in her mouth, over and over...
and I think that might be one of the babies I found dead with a bruised
abdomen. =( Moral of the story: don't mess with the cage furniture until
the babies have fur.
