According to all the books, the "proper" way to hold a gerbil is to "cradle"
it in one had while holding it's tail with the other....I totally agree with
the book when dealing with new gerbils or ones that arn't used to being
handeled because they can/will jump and it could seriously hurt
them...however, with a gerbil that is used to you and throughly enjoys being
out - it's up to you as to what is safest and most comfortable for both you
and the gerbil, :o) whether it's the "run-across-the-shoulder" method or the
"moving hands"...it really doens't matter...

Yep Naomi and Gen like to go from hand to hand, they like it when I sit on
my
bed and put one hand under the other kinda like a stairmaster LOL. and yep I
noticed they dont like to be restrained!! GEn likes to stand up on my hands
when i put them together and slightly cup them. Also GEn and NAomi lay on my
hand for like 5 seconds. LOL They do have short attention spans lol, except
when theyre runing in thier wheels!!
