Looks like the first thing to do, is separate the girls from the boys!
:-)
I have more gerbils than I really wanted to have around, too. I'm not
satisfied with the care that small animals receive in any of my local
pet shops, so I have done the only other thing I could, which is to
separate the males from the females, keep them all, and mention the ones
I'd like to find homes for, here on the List every once in a while
(although most of us here have quite enough gerbils anyway). There's
also an ad page on the NGS site where you can post gerbils for sale.
You might also check to see if there are any places in your community
where you could put a flyer on a bulletin board.
Maybe some of your local school teachers could adopt a few as classroom
pets, too.
Some veterinarians will also neuter male gerbils, although it's probably
easier just to separate them since there's no shortage of same-sex
cagemates.
