Are we referring to the "new" blue gerbils here, or are we referring to the
old blues which are now known as Slate?

You can't. They are simply not available at this time. Only a handful of
academics who are studying these in Germany and The Netherlands have
them. And they only have a handful of blues between them. I have been
lucky enough to see blues but I do not expect to possess one for some
time.
