I was recently given a female about 7-8 months old that i was hoping to
introduce to my 6-7 month old (extremely lonely) female. I've kept them in
separate cages for about a week. The new gerbil wasn't particularly well
cared for and I wanted to make sure she wasn't sick. Everything seemed to
be ok, so today I set up the aquarium as a split cage. But when I got the
new gerbil out of her cage and checked her over, her eyes were oozy (?red
stuff) and her stools were loose. This is the first sign of a problem I've
seen, and she's still acting alright. Being new to gerbils, I'm not sure
what any of this means. Needless to say, I've postponed the intraduction
for now. Can someone tell me what this means & what I should do?
