As you all know, the dynamic trio split earlier this year. I spent about a month trying desperately to get Mike&Ike reconciled but finally gave up. For the past month, I've been scouring the local petstores (only 2 of them) for young, male gerbils as cagemates for the lonely Mike & Ike. But, alas, I've had no luck. Then, to give me a headache, Angel decided to chew through her waterbottle Friday. Finally, today I managed to get to the petstore to buy another water bottle. And, lo and behold, the petstore had a litter of 5 1/2 week old baby gerbils...perfect age for introducing to two adult males. Only two were boys, a shy-black and a confident red-eyed champagne (I can still see his spots in his still orange fur). The shy-black was introduced in a clean tank to Mike and Mike seemed pretty unfriendly for a little while. Then, my husband remembered the vanilla trick and dabbed the black boy with some vanilla. Mike, then, ignored the black-boy for while, but now, 1 hr later, they are doing fine. Ike and the red-eyed champagne got along great from the start (I dabbed vanilla on the little boy first) and are now great friends tearing up paper and digging furiously. I feel so relieved. I was so stressed about Mike and Ike both being alone and feel great to have found both of them suitable cagemates. About Cindy, my sister in Anchorage said that she might be interested in taking Cindy as a class pet for her toddler class. So, Cindy may have a new home. Any name ideas for a shy-black and a very confident red-eyed champagne? Deb Adams ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
