I have devised a Passover mixture for my gerbils, which I'll share, in case
anyone needs to know this.

Grains which are forbidden during Passover are wheat, rye, oats, spelt and
barley, unless they were specially prepared under rabbinical supervision to
prevent any fermentation whatsoever. So, I use a mixture of safflower
seeds, red millet, cracked corn, alfalfa hay, and sunflower seeds (not too
many!), plus some fruits & veggies to feed my gerbils during Passover. The
gerbils seem to thrive on this.

For my budgies, I give large sprays of golden millet, threshed red millet,
and bits of fresh veggies.

The fish & newts get freeze-dried tubifex worms/daphnia/brine shrimp.

The small lizards get pinhead crickets, waxworms, and mealworms.

The cats get the flavors of Friskies canned food which do not contain wheat
gluten (which is what I buy anyway!).

Now everyone knows WHY I spend more feeding my pets for this holiday than
myself!
