Subject: Re: [-Gerbils-] some new
gerbils
decided that they should be
frozen for snake "snacks" later. Bottom line: the gerbils survived 30
hours in a box in the freezer and so then were set up in a regular cage,
still only to be sold as snake food. I bought the two females, felt guilty
about leaving the male, but anyhow I saved two of these creatures. Not
long after bringing them home, one of the females had four
babies!
One of the adult gerbils (not the one who had the babies)
lost part of it's tail in my hand a few days ago...the skin and fur just
slipped off like a glove from a hand...tail bone sticing out had to be
amputated...gerbil is doing fine. I am keeping these gerbils who are very
sweet by the way, but if anyone out there is interested in any of them Id
be glad to share.:) I have the mom and her only daughter together. The
short-tailed gerbil is all alone right now and she is picky about who she
lives with. I'm worrying that she may not get along with the other two
when her tail heals and I try to add her to the others. Then what will I
do? I don't want another tank of gerbils! Anybody want her?
In any
case, these gerbils have been through a lot and now are safe from freezing
or being snake food. I just couldn't let them die after I learned what
they'd been through! The male that had been with the females is STILL in
the pet shop! He has been offered as snake food twice that I know of and
was rejected as being either too small or too big for the snake! Every
time I go to the shop I wonder if he'll be there or not. Does anyone want
him? He MUST be a "holy"
gerbil!
Thanks,
