Siezures

I am new to the group and i have learned alot . About a week ago someone posted a message about seizures, what are they i could tell from the note that it is heriditary. I have a male gerbil about12 weeks old that seems to go into a catotonic state when he gets extremly frightened. He never is afraid of me but sometmes when he is with a new person and they scream or get excited he just freezes up is this a siezure or just a fear response. Thanks for your input. Paul
