Quick Thought On Genetics

Hmm...genetics is a truly messed up thing.  Can someone please explain to me how this is possible....cause I'm dumbfounded as to how I keep gettin' wierd colors from gerbils that I wouldn't expect it from.   Scenario....   I had an Agouti female that I used to pair up with an Albino male.  Then she mated with one of her sons which was also Agouti.  In the first litter, I got a Champagne and 3 Agoutis...now in this second litter I got an Agouti, a Black?!!?, and what I believe is gonna be a Dark Eyed Honey...how is this possible?!  Black out of all the colors too...truly odd....       Chris
