This happened to me once not too long ago.  Dusty my female nutmeg gave birth
to 8 pups (this being her first litter) she either did not sit on them or
nurse them.  Since that being the first time something like that happened to
me I panicked.  So after I calmed down I decided to put them in my room away
from any noise and distraction and I just left them alone and didn't bother
them or touch the babies and now the six surviving ones are all healthy and
productive!
