Hi Lisa, how very sad and disappointing to lose the litter, especially your
first.

it is very common to lose a litter of two and even more so of a single pup.  I
guess they don't generate the body heat to keep warm.

My first litter was a litter of two.  On one occasion the mom was obsessing about
gnawing up a box and left them for a several hour period.  They got very cold.
Fortunately, I found them in this state and has a reptile clamp lamp and 40 watt
grow bulb on hand (to heat the area to 80 or so degrees).
