Tonight I came home late (about 9:30) and filled up the food bowl for
Cara and her 2 five-week old pups. She was really fat, like she
swallowed a rock-hard golf ball. As usual, when my hands were int the
tank she leapt onto my sleeve up my arm and with a struggle hoisted
herself from my chest to my shoulder. When I put her back in the tank
she acted really weird, leaping straight into the air and scrambling
onto the water bottle.
She was so fat and acting so energized that I wondered if she might be
having her pups right now. So I flipped her and actually saw a pink and
gray tiny gerbil snout.
I've never seen pups being born before. Is it normal for her to be
leaping and running around while giving birth? I just turned down the
lights and covered the cage with a sheet.
