Hi Everyone, I would like to announce the addition of 3 gerbils to my family. Last Saturday I drove to Milwaukee and met Meg H. of the Gus Gerbils. Meg is really a nice person. :o) I got one of her breeding pairs from her. I now have Spunky (burmese male) and Snickers (grey agouti female). I also got one of their pups, a female REW that my son named Sassy. Spunky and Snickers are an older pair that have slowed down in producing pups. I'm not sure if I'll get any pups from them. Thank you Meg!! I really am enjoying them. I'm planning on possibly breeding Spunky or Sassy with a pup from the pair that I got from Jessi (of the Dragoon Clan in Colorado). I got a slate and ivory cream (Method and Erebus) pair from her last October. I'm not sure who I'm going to breed with who, I have to do some work and figure out what color combinations are going to produce what colors. Speaking of Method and Erebus,, they produced a new color of pup for me. According to their genetics, they can produce slate, ivory cream, grey agouti, REW, and they have a 50% chance of producing polar fox, silver nutmeg, and apricot. This new pup is what I believe to be a silver nutmeg. She is cream in color with black eyes. Before she started to get her fur, her tail was grey along with the skin on the ears and around the eyes. I thought about breeding her with Spunky (burmese), but according to the gerbil gene predictor, they will most likely only produce black and slate. All of my gerbils are doing great. They seem to be happy and healthy. I've had to separate a breeding pair cause lately it's been harder to place all the pups. Must be cause it's getting nice out. I remember last summer when people on the GML mentioned that it seemed harder to find homes during the summer. Oops this is getting long, I better go for now. Ann-Marie L.
