It is quite possible they would see a gerbil. Wildlife vets, while they do
have specific knowledge about wild animals, can't know everything about
every species with which they are presented. They are very resourceful
people and can often find information quickly on animals they are not
familiar with through books or contacts with other kinds of vets.
