When I started out I mixed my own gerbil food. I used kitten, puppy, and
gerbil foods, oats, cracked corn, bird seed, and anything else that looked
tasty. I would mix it a little at a time in a plastic tuperware. Now I
have one of those BIG tin bins that you buy popcorn in at Christmas time.
It holds 2 lbs 6 oz or 1.077 kg if you prefer. I now add a hole bag of bird
seed, a hold bag of gerbil food, a hole bag of kitten or puppy food (I
rotate every time I go to buy more food) and anything else (cracked corn,
oats, groats, oat meal, etc). With all the gerbils I have I need that big
container. I found that with the little one I used to use, as soon as I
mixed the food and started filling my gerbils bowls I had to go back and mix
the food again. I spend about $20 on food once every 2 months and just mix
everything at once in the tin bin :) I can't fit that in my freezer, but it
doesn't go bad or get bugs. All I have to do is keep the lid on. Thanks
for listening again. I'm in a talkative mood today. It may be b/c I
finally got my computer part and I get to use my own computer! Ya!
