Hi Rachel,
I know the white chin -- and I believe the socks, too -- is a normal
variation of the self colored (aa) gerbils. Both my slate and nutmeg
have the white chin (and their two pups both did two). The white chin
on the slate is a spot and on the nutmeg a line that goes pretty far
down.
When I first got the slate I thought it meant he had the spotted Sp
gene, but no -- a white chinned gerbil is spsp.
