Yep. Lixit round no-climb bottles, done every day at feeding
time.

I have the occasional waterbottle jam and all that, and am
VERY well versed in searching for damp bedding or 'aquahamsters'
(they're infamous for getting something up the nozzle so the
water leaks past the balls) when feeding and doing water.
I use a recycled shredded paper bedding (soft fine ripped
paper, not sharp cut edges) and that shows water very well.
>Do you have enough food in the tanks?
Daily feeding, of a good balanced feed/seed mix that I get
custom made at a feed store....and supplimental feeding of
carrots, milkbone dog biscuits, an occasional bit of apple,
etc. The gerbils get more of the fresh food than the hamsters.
>Who do you think was eating the young?
I didn't catch anybody in particular, so I'm not sure which
one of the pair (when most of the tiny babies disappeared)
or both; or which one of the foursome was after the older
babies (this was the original clutch of 23, that got thinned
down as that was way too many in one colony)
>Do you feed the gerbils enough protein?
I think so. I'd almost eat the diet I feed; it's that well balanced.
>Do you feed them any meat (lunch meat, crickets, meal
>worms, etc)?
No. Lunch meat, who knows what's in it. Plus all the fillers
and preservatives. As for crickets and mealworms, they got
banned in the era of all the fish in the house. Sorry.
Anybody else, do you feed meat and meat products?
Or live food?
