A personal grumble: Why don't people save important email?

Why don't they bother to learn how?

And how to search saved email for things, rather than asking time and time
again? (Newcomers are excused, naturally.)

I'm not a GML expert. But it annoys me to see the experts' time spent on
things that GML readers should do for themselves. I'd much rather hear
from experts who don't even write because I suspect they might be tired
out and disgusted.

Example is how to manage your own GML mechanics. In addition to IGS
Website info on how to do that (Web address given frequently in GML), you
got an email when you subscribed to GML. It details all the essentials.
Below is the mere start of that email. Did YOU save YOUR copy?

| Your subscription to the GERBILS list (Gerbil Discussion List) has
been
| accepted.
|
| Please save this message for future reference, especially if this is
the
| first time you are subscribing to an electronic mailing list. If you
ever
| need to leave the list, you will find the necessary instructions
below.
| Perhaps more importantly, saving a copy of this message (and of
all
| future subscription notices from other mailing lists) in a special
mail
| folder will give you instant access to the list of mailing lists that
you
| are subscribed to. This may prove very useful the next time you go
on
| vacation and need to leave the lists temporarily so as not to fill
up
| your mailbox while you are away! You should also save the
"welcome
| messages" from the list owners that you will occasionally receive
after
| subscribing to a new list.
