First, be very happy that your gerbils have lived long past normal life
expectancies. You must have been an exceptional keeper, and they must
have enjoyed their long lifetimes. That was a very peaceful death, wasn't
it?
The happy 5-year-old needs you. I can't suggest how to find him/her a
companion besides you, but I know GML experts will have good ideas.
It is awfully sad when anyone close to us, human or animal, completes
their time here. I'll send you a few website references that you might
look at. Your grief is fully understood because all of us experience it.
