IMHO GML serves a large social purpose as well as a help one. But

I agree with Bill here,, it is very difficult to answer questions that
pertain to the well being of gerbils when I have to spend so much time
sifting through unnecessary emails and updates on what a pup did a few
minutes ago compared to what the pup did 2 hours ago.
As a breeder myself, I find it best to not name pups at such an early age.
If you are not planning to keep the pups,, then let the new owner name
them,, it makes it easier when it is time for the pups to go. If you feel it
is necessary to name a newborn pup,, it isn't really necessary to let the
gml know what the names are. Like someone else said earlier,, Who cares what
ya name them.
Over an 8 month period,, I had a total of 129 pups born,, only 13 died for
various reasons,, some still born, some died within 48 hours after birth.
Can you imagine what the gml would be like if all of us sent death
announcements every time a pup died, and is it really necessary to send a
message every time?
If I were having a high rate of pup deaths, I would stop breeding until I
figured out why.
I'm not trying to be harsh here,, I'm just trying to be real. Before you
send a message to the list,, ask yourself if it is really necessary and/or
beneficial to the rest of us. If you are responding to someone,, it is
really necessary to post to the gml? Can't it be done in private?
yes Auntie Ann-Marie does get crabby,,,,
