[Not a problem. Just curiosity.]
Is there any relationship between size and color of adult gerbils of
identical parentage? Specifically, do whites tend to be larger than other
colors?
Question comes from my own gang of 12, all adults and all separated by
sex. All are black-eyed and I don't do colors or genetics so can't answer
deep questions. The three whites are noticeably larger.
The two white male adults are biggest of all, quite noticeably, even
compared to two other bachelors. And a female white is larger than her
mom and siblings. Afraid I lost info to say whether big white males are
brothers of the big white female. (Which should be a lesson to you
SERIOUS keepers.)
Not that this might matter but: Dad of All was what I'd call a DEH except
with black eyes. Two moms are pied black and spotted agouti (I think.)
Other offspring have included self blacks and browns; pied black (both
moms); spotted agouti; whites who don't live here any more; etc. pretty
mixed.
Just curious about the big whites ...
