I'd say it would be worth a try, unless they drew blood during the
fight.  As I understand it, if blood was drawn it's highly unlikely you'll
be able to get them back together.

I have to set up a split tank up myself today.  My two girls I had just put
together had to be separated as the younger was too enthusiastic about
grooming the older, and the older lost her temper.  They've been apart a
couple of days and act very depressed and sullen.  I think they actually
had formed an attachment so I'm going to try it again.  Female gerbils can
be so difficult.  :)
