Hi-
I'm not a breeder but I have heard it said many times on the list not to
use pine with breeding gerbils and babies. The pine can be particularly
irritating to them. It's worse, I believe, for the young gerbils as their
immune systems will already be compromised at around 3 weeks of age when
they wean. Combined with pine, I think the chance for respiratory troubles
would be quite high. Personally, I'd switch them to aspen and toss the pine
out all together. I also *think* the pine with chlorophyll is not
kiln-dried, which makes it all the more potent.
