That's precisely my point, Rachel, and thanks for spotting it.

"REAL gerbil questions" don't get answered. Furthermore, the experts
don't have time or inclination to tell us things we never knew to ask
about. Novices like you and me are losing out because some people think
this is their private reference desk or chatty bulletin board. IMHO those
people are some combination of lazy and thoughtless.

Why do YOU think questions go unanswered?

IMHO one reason is that the experts get frustrated and either leave GML or
stop writing. If they all go, what will be left in GML? The experts know
that GML's social part is good also, but IMHO the social is forcing out
the information. The experts do what they do because they love
erbils -- but nobody can make them love GML, nor you and me.

Please be patient as we collectively try to decide whether there really is
a problem, as I have yelled about just to get ANYBODY's attention. And if
there is a problem, what to do about it. That might not look to you like
gerbils talk, but it is good for the health of the list and its workings
IMHO. Think about GML 6-12 months from now.

thanks for helping to explain my point ...
