I did not say, let us evaluate in six months. I asked to give
it a trial, for six months.
I am on both lists and will be able to see what is going on
during that time; if it seems that the SGML is negatively
impacting the GML then I will terminate the SGML in
favor of the GML's existence.
I did say that.
Meantime, I am asking that the SGML be allowed to run
for the six months....which is a fair and reasonably short
trial period.
By all means, continue to work it out in GML, I am not trying
to squelch the discussion over the existence of the SGML.
As pointed out, there are more than one way to work on
something such as this...a long and detailed discussion,
a consensus, and a starting of a forum...and a start another
forum and see how it goes, collect data along the way,
and be gracious and terminate if it doesn't work-adjust so
it does work-or go with another plan.
I have delayed posting an official charter or statement,
as the ongoing discussion here in GML right now is very
important; and will help decide what to put down. A
valid point was made, as to what should be encouraged
to be sent to what forum.
As I am also today working on the last phases of the
Gerbil Rideshare Project; which has some real potential
to legally and safely get gerbils from breeders to owners;
I intend that some of the traffic FROM the GML to help
support that (I need a gerbil of certain colors, who has
one? I have gerbils that need homes. I am going to be
going from Ann Arbor to Atlanta in September and will
be willing to transport along the way...)
I don't have the time, I'm making it. Why? I want the
GML to continue to be what it was intended to be.
I want an outlet as well to trade anecedotes about
my little ones. And I want animals to go from who
has them to who wants them, safely, quickly, and
legally.
Please, continue to discuss here, what shall be done
about the GML and the SGML, and I will certainly
go with what is the best for both.
As I said before, though; don't drag it down out of hand.
If it is meant to be, then I will be glad to have dedicated
my time and effort to make it work. If it does not work,
I will most certainly end it. If something better comes
along out of experimentation or discussion; let's do that
instead.
