>is it ok to use cornmeal instead of ferrets dust for use with sand baths?
Hee-hee-hee! Ferret's dust??? I have ferrets and they certainly contain no
dust. Although they can get dusty when exploring dusty areas. *grin*
Of course you mean Chinchilla dust! I've tried cornmeal in the past and the
gerbils just don't bathe in it like chin dust. Some would eat it but mostly
just ignored it or covered it with bedding and slept in it. I've also used
volcano ash that I have collected from a couple of eruptions that occurred
near Anchorage, AK. That seems as successful as chin dust, but difficult to
come by for most people.
By all means use cornmeal if you wish. Perhaps your gerbils will use it and
it certainly won't hurt to try.
Good luck!
