I did an intro with a female a little over 1 yr and an 8 week old female
and it just barely worked. They tolerated each other but fought often and
had to separated an reintroduced a few times.

I did another intro with 2 adult females when they were around 7 months old
and it was hugely successful. They are absolutely inseparable today at over
2 years old!

My most recent one was with a female about a year old and a younger pup (I
got her from a shelter so I don't know her exact age). This was very
successful as well, *but*, the 1 yr. old is very small for some reason, she
just never really grew after about 12 weeks old, and this made her about
equal size to the younger pup for the introduction.

It seems to me that maybe size is a bigger factor than age. Don't forget to
quarantine the new gerbil for at least 2 weeks before beginning the intro
to make sure there are no underlying illnesses.
Good luck,
Jill
