Here is some more interesting info on shipping.

Airborne express accepts same live animals as post office such as lizards,
frogs, and insects but not furred animals.

Greyhound in Seattle says no live animal cargo.

Airlines some in Seattle said gerbils are allowed, however if it is not
specifically listed as approved the animals could be rejected at the shipping
counter.

This is the big one United Airlines is no longer accepting shipments of ANY
live animals unless you are a business with a past shipping history, this is
due to some problems the FAA found with security in the air cargo area and
currently they have no timeline for returning to their schedule.

Someone mentioned finding out how pet shops get their animals, this is how.
They buy from wholesalers or individual breeders who live in the local area
that drive the animals to the store.
