The red nose is probably caused by a bacterial infection, due to an
allergic reaction to the bedding. The red discharge you might see is not
blood, but mucus.
In severe case, it can also affect the eyes.
What type of bedding are you using?
Wood shavings, especially pine can cause this. Best would be to change to
corn cob bedding.
Probably there is also a bacterial infection now. That won't just clear up,
best is to treat it with a topical antibiotic.
Polysporin is an ointment that is very suitable and is available without
prescription in North America at most pharmacies.
Polymyxin and neomycin are pretty good topical antibiotics for rodents, and
they do not seem to cause much gastrointestinal upset when ingested during
grooming.
Best is to apply this ointment twice a day.
