Many of the supermarket chains get their icing in 5 gallon buckets.  I can
usually get them for free or at most for $2.00.

This will keep little critters out unless they are in the feed in egg form.
If this is the case one option is to freeze the feed.  If you live up north,
like me,  put the feed in the bucket.  In the winter, if it is sub freezing,
simply put the bucket in your garage for seven to ten days.  If you have a
large chest freezer you could simply put the bucket in their for seven to
ten days as well.

This is just one option.
