I am pleased to announce that we have acquired a new gerbil family member. Our "widowed" Pippin has a new friend, a PEW that we've named Sparky, or Sparkles. We called him "Whitey" as a convenient tag, until Michael joked that we should call him "Sparkly-eyes." Sparky is our first white gerbil. He came from a pet store b/c we didn't want to deal with the shipping problem. He appears to be adult but is pretty young, I'm guessing no more than 6 mos. Sparky is rather skittish. He's hard to catch but he seems to love climbing up to my shoulders and exploring. He and Pip and have been in a split cage since Friday. Mostly they've been ignoring each other, which is not as promising as cuddling up next to the divider, but a better sign than trying to fight thru it! ===== Julie & Michael (homo sapiens) Alex P.
