Hi Iva, I love the photos! I to have been able to produce pups of the same
color as yours. My first one really caused me a lot of confusion as she was
from my first litter. This would be Raspberry Cream.
Her mom's genetics (Jasmine's) are AaCchE*G*Spsp Golden Agouit Pied. This
female has produced this color when mated to a Golden Argente and a DEH.
I am wondering if there is a dilution gene at work here.
I mated Raspberry with a full brother from Jasmine's second litter, a DEH,
to confirm their genetic makeup.
They produced the following colors: 2-Golden Argente, 2-Honey Cream, & 2-Red
Eyed Honey Cream. I believe Raspberry's genetic code would therefore be
AaCcheeG*Pp. But, this does not explain the extensive dilution of color.
I found an excellent description of this color on one of Julian's web pages.
He calls it "Honey Cream" as it is DEH based, but with no distinct line
between the color of the belly and the upper body. I feel this is a most
accurate description and agree with Julian that this color deserves its own
name.
The Red Eyed Honey Cream's I mentioned above display the dame dilution of
color in their coat. They are golden on top which fades to white on the
sides. While the don't have any dark ticking, they also do not have the gray
undercoat of the Argente. Both the Honey Cream and Red Eyed Honey Cream
start life looking white. It is only as the age that the develop the golden
overcast. The undercoat in both instances remains white.
Any thoughts on this Julian?
