Prince and Princess, my mystery colored pair, produced seven
sometime Thursday. [9-7-00]
I think I have a dove, and it's not either one of these, and they
are TAN versus his grey...
However, all are looking good and going to be moved up to
be kept an eye on.
Bud (DEH) and Lady (DEW) are doing well as is their litter.
I am still not certain if it's 5 or 6, but there is one white one
and the rest look black....they are well furred and trying to
creep about now. [8-30-00]
I also adopted all of Marie Montgomery's gerbils and dwarf
campbell hamsters that she needed to find a home for a few
days ago. This was a win-win, as she knows they went to
a good home and I get fresh genes to cross into my lines.
[Marie, you didn't tell me the agouti female and the larger
agouti pied female LOVE to sit and THUMP for long long
times, especially in the middle of the night! <g>]
As for when they have them...Lady dropped hers between
8:30 am and 9:30 am (she was checked before I left for an
errand, and had them by the time I returned and checked again)
I think Princess had hers late afternoon.
The hamsters usually prefer 3-8 pm or around 3-5 am....
Anyway, Ann Marie, please add both of these to the pup counts
for those months. I will try in the next day or so to get an accurate
count of Lady's litter, as I know she has not lost any, yet.
And if Princess and Prince's litter makes it to furring out, we may
have another way to determine what color both are, by what they
produce...<peeking into the genotypes the parents carry>
